How to take your mistakes seriously without taking them personally
Great article!
It’s a topic that usually is dismissed with a simple “it happens”, without understanding why/how/when it happens.
Instead you brought a refreshing dose of realism and clarity on how to deal with mistakes that - at different levels - are part of everyone’s game.
(Also, great quotes! 🤣)
Thank you for the kind words! 😁
Indeed! Many people dismiss them by saying, "it was just a dumb mistake" then do nothing about them, and then wonder why they can't improve!
In chess, as in life!
I just wrote about that Petrosian Queen hang. I was playing Guess the Move and whoops. Bad game to choose.
Haha, indeed! Seeing these blunders make me so much calmer about my own mistakes :D Some of them are so elementary!
Interestingly, that game is what inspired me to redo my Guess the Move database and then spin it off into this website which I launched today. https://ontheroadtochessmaster.substack.com/p/introducing-guessthemovenet?r=4r2m0i&utm_medium=ios
Have you been watching me play? If not, that means there are other chess blunderers out there too. Others that I may bring joy to with my writing... like you just did for me.
Thank you,
Bertie.
Haha, we are all blunderers! :)
